My Sister is Awesome.

This ladies and gentlemen, is my sister.

I may not have taken this photo but it’s the best I have on hand that is of my sister. The photo, for all credits etc was taken by one of our lovely coworkers, Amanda Raney. You should click that link, I think it’s best that you do as you really won’t regret it.

My sister is the owner of Muddy’s Bake Shop. This of course also makes her my employer. I think a lot of people might think that’s a bad idea. Family working for family can often end up badly as illustrated in the every so highly acclaimed television reality drama named “American Chopper.” Clearly this whole family working with family thing is not to be taken lightly.

So far my experience with my Kat has been nothing like the horrors of “Senior vs. Junior” but has been, to date, my best employment experience yet. I mean, she wears pink hair and such to work. She let’s me come and go as I see fit, extending me a great amount of trust to simply do what needs to be done and when. I don’t have a set schedule. If I need to come in at 3 in the afternoon that’s what I need to do. I’ve found it makes me work harder actually. Anyway, that’s not really the point. The point here is that my sister is awesome. I mean, I’ve never worked somewhere that trusts me this way or that gives me the leeway and freedom that she does. Yeah, I’m sure a lot of it has to do with us being family but, the other managers are extended the same trust and freedom. It’s amazing. I mean seriously, my sister is awesome.

She gave me a job that doesn’t involve depressing news and dead people. Or robberies. Or tornadoes or anything like that. There’s no crazy office politics or corporate bullshit. I make cupcakes for a living. And pie. And cookies. And… and… omg more pie. Who couldn’t love that? I get up each day and think, “Oh shit, I gotta go to work. Yeah!” Who has that? I do. What’s a crisis at work? “Hey man, that icing is kinda too pink, think you could take it easy on the red next time? Thanks.”

So if you see her around, be sure to tell her that she’s awesome because yeah, she is.
